Beard Growth Kit: What Actually Belongs In One

Anything beyond those five — derma rollers, "growth serums", biotin megadoses — is optional at best. Get the daily five right for ninety days first.

Facial hair grows roughly half an inch per month. Judge nothing before day 90 — most "patchy" beards are simply beards that haven't been given enough length to overlap.

• Sleep and protein. Hair is keratin. Underfed and undersleept follicles produce thinner, slower growth.
• Don't trim early. Trimming during month one removes the length you need to cover thin spots.
